Camping Adventure

We went camping this past weekend with my brother and sister in law just for one night. It was quite the adventure but anything with two little girlies is an adventure these days. Yes it was COLD, yes there was whining and some complaining, and a clingy baby, BUT there were memories made and it was nice. It's always fun to camp and not have all the luxuries that you have at home; no running water, outhouses, cooking everything on the fire. (for a short time) It makes you appreciate your home and everything in it so much more. We had a nice day of relaxing, eating, canoeing, and walking. Aunt Genna did a scavenger hunt with Noni which she loved and she took a nice afternoon nap in the cabin. We got to hear the train in the middle of the night which was fun. (The tracks are really close to camp) Overall we had a good time but its good to be home!

FALL Festiveness

Is festiveness a real word? I don't know but we have lots of festiveness going on around here! Yesterday we carved our pumpkin, roasted the seeds and ate them and Peter drilled our pumpkin. You'll see in the pics. It turned out really cool. A couple weeks ago Noni and I collected pine cones to go with our gourds for a center piece and she painted and decorated mini pumpkins! I made pumpkin cheesecake and plan to make either pumpkin cookies or pumpkin bread not sure yet. So lots of festiveness!

~Big Sisters~

Yes my girls are going to be BIG Sisters!! Baby #3 is due in April! We are super excited to add another and final member to our family! These girls are my biggest challenge and my biggest blessing and I can't wait to see them with a baby bro/sis!! We will not be finding out what we are having because I LOVE surprises and this is a surprise worth waiting for!! Since this will most likely be our last babe I am going to savor every moment of this pregnancy, I don't want to rush it.
This pic was taken the day we found out but I am now about 11 weeks!

Meet Soleyana

This is Soleyana Alem and she is the newest member of our family. We decided to sponsor a child through COMPASSION again. When Peter and I first got married we sponsored a little boy from the Philippians but he moved and was no longer going to be part of Compassions program. An announcement at church reminded me of it and so we did it. I really have a heart for Africa and for Honduras so (this may sound horrible) I let Noni pick. I gave her two choices and explained that we are going to help her and send her money and letters and gifts and pray for her. She picked Soleyana. She is from Ethiopia and is 6 years old. If you want to or think of it keep her in your prayers!

Phew August is over. It was such a busy month for us Wrights and as fun as it was I am glad its over. I'm super excited and ready for Fall which is usually not like me. I am a summer girl through and through but with little girlies who don't like the heat I am becoming more of a Fall girl. Heres what we have been up to.
FAIR TIME!
Peter told her where to draw the lines and she did it. She loves drawing.
Shes just so cute!

Tomatoes tomatoes and more tomatoes!

So its that time again. Time for canning! Every year my mom and I work on canning peaches, stewed tomatoes, salsa, and pickled red beets. My favorite is of course the salsa. I love tomatoes. They are definitely one of my top five favorite foods. Yum. So yesterday we did 7 quarts of stewed tomatoes, 7 pints of stewed tomatoes, 8 pints of salsa, (which turned out excellent), and when I left there were two big pots of tomato sauce simmering on the stove. This is the first time we did sauce. We used a Victoria strainer, which is really nifty, it peeled the skin off and squished the seeds out only keeping the juice and pulp like stuff. So that had to of made 10+ jars of tomato sauce. Today we are going to try and make tomato juice. Yum! The girls ended up napping at the same time (yay, luv when that happens) and we got all but the sauce done in 4 hours. It was a successful day! When Noni woke up from her nap she wanted to help us so we gave her the job of rinsing the dirt off of the tomatoes. She really was a big help!
