Tis the season for...Corn

This past weekend Peter and I husked, blanched, cut and froze 100 ears of corn. The task was very daunting when I began but it really was not too bad. Without Peters help it would have taken me a loong time to do. (so thankful for a husband who is willing to help me in the kitchen) We both husked, I blanched and he cut. The girls "helped" us too. Evey was perfectly content playing with the cobs on the floor and Noni "dated"/doodled on all the bags. I love that we can make a task like this a family affair. It was fun!!! And now we have 19 small bags of corn to last us the winter.

Camping Adventure

So about 2 weeks ago now we took a sort of last minute camping trip. Peters boss owns property in New York and the guys wanted to build a cabin up there so we made it a family thing. It was our first time camping as a family of four. Actually our first time at all with kids. We slept in a tent which was rough in this heat. The girls could not nap in there at all. Besides the heat and lack of sleep we had a great time. Noni got to go swimming in a pond for her first time, she played in the delaware river, saw a train go by only five feet away from her, and got to pee in an out house. I look forward to going camping more often when the kids are older just not in the heat.

Crepes!

My hubby is so good in the kitchen, when he wants to be. He rarely makes dinner these days but he does help me out alot. This weekend he woke up and for some reason wanted crepes. We have never made them before but we have eaten them and really enjoyed them. Well Peter found a recipe online and we had crepes for breakfast!! They were so yummy and actually pretty easy to make. Oh and they were gluten free! Yum!

Our 4th!

Wow. The summer is flying by. The fourth has come and gone and the days just keep filling up. We had a good time picnicing at my moms on the 4th. The whole Kramer family was there which was 49 people. 50 if you include the bun in the oven. Isn't that crazy and our family is just getting bigger. Thankfully my mom has a pool and a big back patio so we all fit comfortably. We played volleyball, had a campfire and made 2 different kinds of homemade ice cream. My girls would not nap with all the camotion so the night ended with to very sleepy girls.
