Vacation in Tennessee

Well we are back and ready to get back into the daily grind. Vacations are so nice but it also is so nice to come home. We hadn't gone on a week long vacation since our honeymoon and this was the first time with Noni. She did great. She is a pretty good traveler and just loved being with her Nee-Nee and Poppy.

Peter and I were really looking forward to having a week of relaxation and time away from home. BUT once we got there we really struggled to actually relax. We are so used to our fast paced life and always doing something that the idea of not having to do anything was really weird. I especially get bored easily I want a plan for the day and agenda, tasks to get done or something and down there we didn't have that. And where my in laws are is in the boonies and town is a country town with not much going on. We did find some things to do though. Peter did some wood working projects for them, I helped clean some cabins and Noni did lots of playing in the creek.

My favorite thing was the Purple Bus. Miss B is what it was called. It's a bus that a hippie chick sells all kinds of hippie attire out of. Lots of jewelery, bags and purses, clothing, tapestries, and hoola hoops. It was so neat!
We watched some white water rafting and got to see the olympic kayaking course from 1996.
We went antiqueing down town which I really enjoyed. Found a few things.
Lots of hiking and by hiking I mean walking on a nice smooth path in the woods! With a little one its hard to do anything really strenuous or long but she does love to walk!

Another fav was the Winery. yes I did have a few sips which is allowed during pregnancy, it was such good wine. Peter got some Razzle Dazzle sweet wine and I picked some of there Buttermilk cheese. Mmmm!

Like I said Noni spent lots of time by the creek that they have in there back yard. She would throw rocks and sticks in non stop but her favorite was walking in it. We didn't get to do that til our last day there because it was too cold the rest of the time. She got to see frogs, fish and crayfish.
The whole gang!!

Mothers DAY

Wow it has been a busy week and I have had no time to share about my mothers day. It was a lovely day. Beautiful sunshine all day which is enough to make my day. But i was greeted in bed with two homemade cards. One from Petey and one from Noni. So sweet! Then I got a special mothers day blessing and prayer from Petey which totally blessed my day. I need some prayer because this age (20mnths) is quite challenging.

Then he made me breakfast. Not just a simple eggs and toast. He made me a cream cheese and jalapeno omlette with chives and dill and a side of sausage. It was so yummy. If you don't know this Peter is a really good cook. He pretty much taught me to cook.

So then we went to a local garden center and I got to pick out some flowers. One of my favorite things to do is pick my flowers for my flower pots that will decorate our back patio for the summer. I got some annuals and some perenials. So fun.

While Noni was napping I went on a starbucks date by myself. It was very enjoyable although I thought of her many times and was reading a parenting book so its funny even though Im away for some me time Im reading and thinking about my baby. It was very nice though.

We then had a family dinner with our in-laws who had to make an unexpected trip up here from Tennesse. It was fun to see them not only becuase we haven't seen them for a month but since it was mothers day. She got to see all her kids on mothers day. It was nice.

I didn't get any pics of me with Noni but I did get some of the kids playing.

I am one blessed mama!!!!

Soaking

(this is a post I wrote on my other blog and wanted to share it here as well)

No I don't mean soaking in the bath tub. The soaking I am talking about is soaking in Gods precense. God is so good, so amazing, and so powerful. There are a few encounters in the Bible (moses is one) where God appears but has to be covered by something or hidden behind something because there very sight of Him with our human eyes would kill us. Thats how powerful His precense is. So why not have a taste of that here on earth.

Soaking is something I learned a few years back on my journey to get closer to God. Peter and I both wanted to get to know Him more and experince Him as the real God that He is. Soaking is simply doing what scripture says in Psalm 46;10, "Be still and know that I am God." Thats hard for a lot of us to do these days. Sit down and not watch TV, not read, not talk on the phone or do anything but know that God is God. I struggled with it for a while. I ccouldn't settle and just BE. Im the person who has to be doing something while watching TV.

Anyway. What we were taught to do in order to soak and get your mind focused on God is turn some music on. Preferably worship music but some listen to other stuff. At the school of ministry we went to we soaked to christian techno music. That was interesting. You can soak to whatever you want but the idea is for it to get you to focus on God. I like to listen to mellow, worshipful, sometimes words sometimes not, christian music. There are actaul soaking CDs out there which are really great.
Some people like to get focused initially by reading some scripture first or journaling or keeping paper near by so they can jot down there list of things to do and get it off their mind. So thats pretty much all you do. God does the rest. Sometimes you may have a big revelation come in this time of soaking, hear answers to prayers, or have a vision, and other times you just simply feel peace. So much amazing wonderful peace, about anything and everything. Thats my biggest prayer and desire to feel Gods unexplainable peace. So I try and soak once a week but it doesn't always happen. I wish I could do it every day! So give it a try. Turn some music on and spend some time with Daddy God!! Be Blessed!
